I got a duel monitor tv setup and i noticed that when the tv is active (connection via hdmi) the res is 1080 on both screens, when i turn off the tv and go back to a single monitor that's connected via dvi then it reverts back to that other, smaller res. Plug the hdmi cable into the monitor and the game works in 1080 again. I'm quite sure its bad hardware detection via the dvi connection that's doing it. Mmm interesting. Even if it's modified to 1920x1080, and Read Only. The game will still run it's crappy hardware detection and won't really take in consideration with the 1920x1080.

The game will see its 1920x1080 but will run the broken hardware autodetect to see if you can truly display it. So it fail to detect and you get another resolution that the game display normally.
