After that in 1987, he acted in Jandhyala’s movie ‘Ahan na pellanta’ and from this film onwards he got fame. Before coming to the film industry, he had a sweet business. He got fame with director S.V Krishna Reddy movies like Mayalodu, Yamaleela.

Gundu Hanumantha Rao got 3 Nandi awards for ‘Adhi thalam’ serial, ‘Amrutham’ serial, and ‘Srimathi Sri Subrahmanyam’ serial. He did Anjaneyulu (Anji) character in Amrutham. Gundu Hanumantha Rao is a veteran actor in the Telugu Movie and TV Industry. He has done many films and serials. He started his career when he was 18 years old and his first appearance was in the Jandhyala’s comedy film, Satyagraham.

He earned fame and popularity for doing comic roles. Gundu was a former stage artist, he won 4 awards for his play Agandi Koncham Aalochinchandi. After his first film, he signed 50 more movies and begins on shuttling among Rajahmundry, and Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam and then decided to budge from Vijayawada to Hyderabad after the releasing of 'Rajendrudu Gajendrudu' and more, including all of SV Krishna Reddy’s films. Gundu spend 25 years in acting and he has moved so quick and finished 250 – 300 films. He simply loves his work and it makes him satisfied.

One of his close friends in the film industry is the comedian, Brahmanandam Kanneganti. They started their journey as comic artists together.

Doing comedy films help Gundu so much, as he always try to bring a light-hearted ambiance around his family and friends. Gundu became famous for doing the role of Anjaneyulu urf Anji in the prime time serial, Amrutham aired on Gemini TV, which ran successfully for almost 7 years due to its popularity. The serial was also telecasted in other channels.

Gundu rejected 32 films for the sake of doing this serial. He won the Nandi award for his role in Aadithalam telecasted in ETV. He also did comedy programs like, Navvula Naarappa and Kevvukeka on small screen. Some of his films are Abbai Premalo Paddadu, Akkum Bakkum, Badrachalam, Challenge, Colours, Friends, Golmaal, Gautam SSC, Hero and a lot more.
